Katrina Tamminga - Dec. 9, 2010
Governor-Elect John Hickenlooper and Governor Bill Owens will grace the stage at the Ellie Caulkins Opera in Colorado Ballet’s annual production of The Nutcracker on Dec. 23, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. The political duo will artfully take the stage as Arabian Sherpas, and will carry the Arabian Princess on and off stage and watch over her as she dances with her Arabian Prince.
Running until Dec. 26, 2010, The Nutcracker is one of the company’s most lavish productions of the season and features dazzling sets, glittering snowflakes, a shimmering Sugarplum and Mother Ginger’s candy-studded bonnet. After 50 consecutive years in Denver, Colorado Ballet’s The Nutcracker proves to be a joy for both adults and children.
“Denver audiences love and appreciate our traditional choreography and year after year, Colorado Ballet’s The Nutcracker has created a sense of awe and dazzle even for annual patrons,” Colorado Ballet’s Artistic Director Gil Boggs said. “We are honored to have Governor-Elect John Hickenlooper and Governor Owens participant in this Denver tradition, as it will only amplify the magical experience.” Tickets for this performance can be purchased at www.coloradoballet.org.
