Academy Dress Code
Students who do not comply with the following dress code may not be permitted to participate in class. No “dangly” jewelry is permitted in any class. Colorado Ballet Academy’s dress code varies depending on the class. Below is an outline of what is generally expected for each class.
Colorado Ballet Academy's dress code for LADIES is as follows:
- Creative Dance: Ballet shoes are optional and bare feet are encouraged. Young dancers may wear any outfit which allows them to move comfortably, individuality is encouraged! Young dancers wear anything from pink leotards and ballet skirts to fairy princess tutus.
- Pre-Ballet 1 and 2: Ballet shoes (pink leather with a full sole) or bare feet are accepted. Leotard any color- any outfit which allows your young dancer to move comfortably.
- PRE-PROFESSIONAL BALLET PROGRAM Level 1 through Level 8: Ballet shoes, black leotard (any style), and pale pink tights. Hair must be secured in a bun.
- Level 1 - Optional for ladies: Hot pink dance belt, 1/2" or 3/4" width
- Level 2 - Optional for ladies: Lilac dance belt, 1/2" or 3/4" width
- Level 3 - Optional for ladies: Light pink dance belt, 1/2" or 3/4" width
- Level 4 - Optional for ladies: Light blue dance belt, 1/2" or 3/4" width
- Level 5 - Optional for ladies: Red dance belt, 1/2" or 3/4" width
- Level 6 - Optional for ladies: Yellow dance belt, 1/2" or 3/4" width
- Level 7 - Optional for ladies: Royal blue dance belt, 1/2" or 3/4" width
- Level 8 - Optional for ladies: White dance belt, 1/2" or 3/4" width
- Children's or Teen Jazz: Jazz shoes or bare foot, comfortable clothing that allows movement as well as being form fitting, which allows teachers to see the body to make proper corrections.
- Adult Jazz: Jazz shoes or bare foot, comfortable clothing that allows movement as well as being form fitting, which allows teachers to see the body to make proper corrections.
- Tap: Black leotard (any style); Pink, black, or tan tights, or black jazz pants, and black tap shoes
- Adult Tap: Black leotard (any style); Pink, black, or tan tights, or black jazz pants, and black tap shoes
- Lyrical: Black leotard; pink, black or tan tights or black jazz pants, jazz shoes or thongs.
- Hip-Hop: Black leotard; pink, black or tan tights or black jazz pants, jazz shoes or dance sneakers.
- Children's/ Teen/ Adult Modern: Barefoot or socks, comfortable clothing that allows movement.
- Teen/ Adult Ballet: Any style leotard and tights (completely optional!!) or comfortable clothes to move in such as yoga pants and a t-shirt. Colorado Ballet Academy only requires ballet slippers (leather or canvas, black or pink), as socks may make the floors slippery and more dangerous for the dancers.

- Creative Dance: Black Gym Shorts, Underwear, White T-shirt, No Shoes.
- Pre-Ballet: Black Gym Shorts, Underwear, White T-shirt, Black or White Ballet Slippers.
- Ballet: Black Tights, Dance Belt, White T-shirt, Black or White Ballet Slippers.
- Modern: Black Tights, Dance Belt, White T-shirt, No Shoes.
- Jazz: Black Tights or Black Jazz Pants, Dance Belt, White T-shirt, Jazz Shoes
- Tap: Black Tights or Black Jazz Pants, Dance Belt, White T-shirt, Tap Shoes
- Lyrical: Black Tights or Black Jazz Pants, Dance Belt, White T-shirt, Jazz Shoes or Thongs.
- Hip-Hop: Black Tights or Black Jazz Pants, Dance Belt, White T-shirt, Jazz Shoes or Dance Sneakers.
- Teen Open Program: Appropriate footwear and dance wear for the respective class.
- Adult Ballet: Any style leotard and tights (completely optional!!) or comfortable clothes to move in such as yoga pants and a t-shirt. Colorado Ballet Academy only requires ballet slippers (leather or canvas, black or pink), as socks may make the floors slippery and more dangerous for the dancers.
