Colorado Ballet Academy Summer Intensive Program presents performance

DENVER – Colorado Ballet Academy’s Summer Intensive Program (SIP) will present a final performance at 5 p.m. on July 19, 2013 at the History Colorado Center.  This performance is free and doors open to the public at 4:30 p.m.

SIP is a five-week intensive dance program for intermediate to advanced level classical ballet dancers from June 17 to July 19.  Admission to SIP is by audition only.  Students ages 11 and up participate in approximately eight hours of dancing each day.  Daily classes include ballet technique, pointe or men's variations, jazz, modern, pilates and variations.

This year, the Academy welcomed students from Mongolia, Japan, Italy and Canada. The Academy also worked with students from other prestigious American ballet companies including Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, Miami City Ballet School, Joffrey Academy of Dance, Boston Ballet School, San Francisco Ballet School and Walnut Hill School for the Arts.

Special guest instructors included Patricia Wilde, Willy Burmann and Whitney Rippelmeyer-Tucker.  Among the SIP faculty were Gil Boggs, Colorado Ballet Artistic Director; Igor Vassine, former principal dancer of Colorado Ballet for more than 17 seasons; Maria Mosina, Colorado Ballet principal dancer; Sharon Wehner, Colorado Ballet principal dancer; Dana Benton, Colorado Ballet soloist dancer; Marlene Strang, Colorado Ballet Academy Director of Curriculum and Instruction; Stephanie Koltiska, Colorado Ballet Academy Dance Coordinator; and artistic faculty of Colorado Ballet and the Academy.
