Colorado Ballet Takes Flight to Neverland in Peter Pan

Sanya Andersen-Vie - Jan. 5, 2012

DENVER—Jan. 5, 2012 – Colorado Ballet will take flight on a journey to Neverland with Peter Pan, February 24 through March 4, 2012 at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House.  From the artistic duo behind Dracula, choreographer Michael Pink and composer Philip Feeney, Peter Pan takes over the stage for 10 performances.

Pink’s version of Peter Pan made its world premiere with the Milwaukee Ballet in 2010 and now makes its Denver debut with Colorado Ballet, complete with brand-new costumes and scenery, high-flying characters and imaginative choreography.  Set to Feeney’s original enlivening score, J.M. Barrie’s beloved children’s tale of Wendy and the boy who never grows up is sure to please audiences of all ages.  The performance will also feature members of the Colorado Children’s Chorale singing with the musicians of the Colorado Ballet Orchestra.

“Michael Pink is a gifted and visionary choreographer,” said Gil Boggs, Artistic Director for Colorado Ballet. “He proved himself to Denver audiences with Dracula and I have no doubt that audiences’ hearts will soar after seeing Peter Pan, his latest creative masterpiece.  Making its Denver debut, this is Peter Pan with altitude!”

Children of all ages will celebrate the freedom and magic of childhood with this story of eternal youth and innocence.  Embark on a thrilling journey as Peter, Tinkerbell and the Darling children soar to Neverland for escapades with the Lost Boys, Tiger Lily and the infamous Captain Hook.
