Denver Gets Excited for Colorado Ballet’s Premiere of The Wizard of Oz

DENVER, CO (January 23, 2019) – The Denver premiere of The Wizard of Oz, presented by Colorado Ballet takes place February 1-10, 2019 at the
Ellie Caulkins Opera House, and Colorado audiences can’t wait to see this monumental new production.
- Seven of 10 performances have already SOLD OUT, with remaining additional performances having very limited availability. Tickets are still available,
but going quickly.
- Mayor Michael B. Hancock officially proclaimed February 2019 to be known as: “The Colorado Ballet Wizard of Oz Month”
- Popular Denver locations show their support by lighting up green in celebration. Be on the look-out for green lights at Denver’s Union Station, Daniels
and Fisher Clock Tower, The Dairy Block, Denver’s Botanic Gardens and the Ellie Caulkins Opera House. Additionally, life-sized cut-outs of the
Oz characters can be seen at Union Station, The Dairy Block, The Curtis Hotel and the Embassy Suites Denver Downtown.
- Photo Op: Media is invited to the company’s final dress rehearsal on Thursday, January 31 at 5 p.m. to take photos and interview members of the artistic

- Video: For a behind-the-scenes looks at the rehearsals and insights from the choreographer, Répétiteur Phillipe Larouche explains how The Wizard of Oz is different from other ballet productions and Choreographer Septime Webre discusses creating a brand new ballet.
- Colorado Ballet is hosting a photo contest on its social media channels, inviting patrons to take and post photos of themselves with the cut-out
characters around town. Winners will receive two free tickets to the evening performance on Friday, February 8.

Winnipeg Ballet, featuring choreography by Septime Webre with music by Matthew Pierce.
