Fernanda Oliveira

Fernanda Oliveira, from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, is a Corps de Ballet member with Colorado Ballet. She trained at the Escola Estadual de Danca Maria Olenewa in her hometown of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, with acclaimed teachers from Brazil and Russia, and received intensive courses with Vaganova Academy instructors Piotr Russanov and Maria Vakhrusheva. She later was awarded a full scholarship to The Washington School of Ballet, where she trained with Kee Juan Han, Carlos Varcárcel and Vladimir Djouloukhadze, among other teachers, gaining a bigger vocabulary in dance and receiving training in different methods and styles. Upon graduating she joined The Washington Ballet under Septime Webre as a Studio Company member, where she performed in Le Corsaire and Giselle, as well as in Balanchine’s Stars and Stripes, Theme and Variations and Who Cares?,Twyla Tharp’s Push Comes to Shove and Trey McIntyre’s Blue Until June Suite. She joined Colorado Ballet in 2014 and again in 2016, and has since had the opportunity to perform in masterpieces by Balanchine, Anthony Tudor, Twyla Tharp and Val Caniparoli, as well as soloist roles in The Nutcracker. Ms. Oliveira has also presented her own choreography with the Colorado Ballet, two ballets entitled Saudade (2017) and All Strings Attached (2018), at Colorado Ballet’s Attitude on Santa Fe program. As an instructor, Ms Oliveira has administered classes in her native Rio de Janeiro and in Washington, DC, and she has been a guest teacher at the Range of Motion dance studio in Oklahoma City since 2014. Fernanda has been been a part-time instructor with the Colorado Ballet Academy since 2015.
