Governor John Hickenlooper and Former Governor Bill Owens to Perform in Colorado Ballet's "The Nutcracker"

Sanya Andersen-Vie - Dec. 1, 2011

DENVER—Dec. 1, 2011 – Governor John Hickenlooper and former Governor Bill Owens, who both performed in Colorado Ballet’s annual production of The Nutcracker last year, will once again grace the stage during the evening performance at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 18. at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House.  The political duo will artfully take the stage during the second act as Arabian Sherpas, and will carry the Arabian Princess on and off stage and watch over her as she dances with her Arabian Prince.

“Denver audiences love and appreciate our traditional choreography and year after year, Colorado Ballet’s The Nutcracker has created a sense of awe and dazzle even for annual patrons,” Colorado Ballet’s Artistic Director Gil Boggs said. “We are honored to have Governor Hickenlooper and former Governor Owens participant in this Denver tradition, as it will only amplify the magical experience.”

A classic in every sense, Colorado Ballet’s annual production of The Nutcracker is a favorite among dance-lovers who are awed by the masterful choreography after Petipa and by Tchaikovsky’s enchanting score performed by the Colorado Ballet Orchestra. Children are entranced by the larger-than-life holiday magic. The Nutcracker is the perfect holiday family tradition.

Running through Dec. 24, this year’s production marks the 51st year that Colorado Ballet’s The Nutcracker has been a part of Denver’s holiday celebration.

Ticket prices range from $20 - $140. To purchase tickets for The Nutcracker visit
