2021 Summer Intensive Program

Directed by Amanda McKerrow and John Gardner

June 14 - July 16, 2021
Ages 11-20 on pointe; Audition Required.

Under the direction of Amanda McKerrow and John Gardner, Colorado Ballet Academy offers a Summer Intensive designed for students intermediate through pre-professional levels. The Summer Intensive Program strives to maintain an atmosphere of creative freedom for every student and a safe place to test boundaries while learning new ways to push beyond them. At this time, we are planning for an in person intensive, however depending on CDC guidelines and State mandates the program may transition to a hybrid or virtual program.

Ballet classes will be taught by Artistic Leaders of the organization, providing the highest caliber training and fostering excellence in dance. Students will experience a daily schedule that balances rigorous training, skills for physical and mental health along with time for mentorship and connection. Two-week, three-week and five-week options are available, with an optional Saturday morning drop-in classes.

  • 2 Week Program: June 14 - June 25, 2021
  • 3 Week Program: June 28 - July 16, 2021
  • 5 Week Program: June 14 - July 16, 2021
  • *Optional Saturday Morning Drop-In Classes*

Auditions will be held January 1 - March 21. Students may choose to audition through video or by participating in one of our live Virtual Regional Auditions.

Colorado Ballet Academy will not be providing housing for the 2021 Summer Intensive. Students who will be traveling from out of state to participate in the hybrid program will be responsible for securing their own housing and transportation. A list of resources and suggested housing options will be made available to all students traveling from out of state. When selecting your housing option, please be aware that you will be dancing from there virtually during portions of the program.

Virtual Regional Auditions

Colorado Ballet Academy will be hosting Virtual Regional Auditions. Students that reside in states included in a specific region are encouraged to sign up for that audition date. If a student is unable to attend their specified regional date, they will be permitted to audition with an alternate group. Please contact summerintensive@coloradoballet.org if you have a conflict with your regional date.

Current Colorado Ballet Academy students may sign up for any of the audition dates but are encouraged to register for one of the first three auditions.

Students who would like to be considered for the Pre-Professional Division should indicate their interest on the audition form. There will be an additional 15 minutes at the end of each audition for further evaluation for the Pre-Professional Division by the program directors.

The fee to audition for the Colorado Ballet Academy Summer Intensive is $40. After completing your registration on the CBA website, you will be directed to fill out a JotForm with additional information. Here you will upload your required photos.
